Dead '69. Now that's something. Ultimate something. Now we know that this double album is too short for what it countains. There is lots of Dead recording out there with "Turn On Your Love Light" going for almost an hour (listen to this version recorded at Piedmont Park, Atlanta: http://www.archive.org/details/gd69-07-07.sbd.clugston.3116.sbeok.shnf ). Anyway, this collection of songs is perfect timing happening before your ears, it is time captured, and it is almost cruel, because it is not going to happen again. The "Dark Star" has already crashed. What can we do? The fact is that Jerry Garcia is singing and playing like he'd met the devil himself in some San Francisco crossroad the night before. Maybe he is the genius in the lamp, so you'd better make your wishes. Be careful, they may come true.
